Day of the National Security Service Officers in Azerbaijan Date in the current year: March 28, 2024

The National Security Service (NSS) of Azerbaijan is accountable to the Azerbaijan Ministry of National Security. The MNS is an intelligence agency responsible for carrying out intelligence and counter-intelligence, protecting the state secret, detecting, revealing and preventing crimes.

The MNS of Azerbaijan was established on November 1, 1991. It was formed on the basis of the local republican committee of the Soviet Committee of State Security (KGB). Within a short period of time, the Ministry was stuffed exclusively by the national specialists.

Day of the NSS Officers in Azerbaijan is marked by a solemn session of the NSS with government official in attendance. In the beginning of the session, the national anthem is performed and the flag of the Azerbaijani NSS is hoisted. The session includes rewarding the NSS officers and veterans with certificates of appreciation and medals.
