Architecture Day in Ukraine Date in the current year: July 1, 2024
President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma established Architecture Day on June 17, 1995, designating July 1 to be the day of the holiday. At that time Architecture Day coincided with World Day of Architecture.
The International Union of Architects moved World Day of Architecture on the first Monday in October to coincide with another UN international day, World Habitat Day. Ukrainian authority refused to move Architecture Day in Ukraine, that is why it's still annually observed on July 1.
Architecture of Ukraine is unique and diverse. Cathedral construction is particularly notable and its history begins in the ancient times. Numerous ancient cathedrals, like Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery have preserved their unique architecture and beauty up to the present time.
