Vegfest Brasil is organized by Sociedade Vegetariana Brasileira (SVB, Brazilian Vegetarian Society) in partnership with the event promoter Francan Feiras. SVB is a non-profit organization that promotes plant-based diets as a healthy, ethical, socially fair and sustainable choice by encouraging people to participate in Meatless Mondays, organizing veg fests, working with restaurants to increase vegan offerings on their menus, and working with health professionals to raise awareness of the health benefits of plant-based diets.
The inaugural Vegfest Brasil was held in 2010 in the city of Recife. As the event grew, it moved to São Paulo, then to the country’s capital of Brasilia and then, after a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, back to São Paulo. As of 2023, Vegfest took place at Expo Center Norte.
Vegfest Brasil features extensive programming that includes the annual Brazilian Vegan Congress with national and international speakers, a free vegan fair open to the public with hundreds of vegan products, and numerous attractions and activities such as culinary demonstrations and cooking workshops, yoga and meditation, a sports court, an escape room, and even theatrical performances.
The Brazilian Vegan Congress has a rich and diverse program that encompasses all aspects of the vegan movement, including animal rights and environmental issues, health (including vegan mental health), sustainability, entertainment, sports, technology, and politics. Speakers at the conference include animal rights advocates and activists, founders and CEOs of various vegan and animal rights organizations, animal lawyers, veterinarians, educators and researchers, nutritionists, physicians, athletes, artists, entertainers, influencers, entrepreneurs, and other specialists and vegan celebrities.
One of the event’s main attractions is the VegFest Vegan Fair with free entry for the public and more than 100 exhibitors, covering segments such as food, cosmetics and personal hygiene, clothes and accessories, home and décor, pet products, and more. The Kitchen Show is also a hit: it features renowned chefs showcasing the diversity of vegan cuisine, from simple dishes you can cook in your own kitchen with minimal effort to fancy restaurant dishes.
Vegfest Brasil offers a great opportunity to explore the world of veganism through learning from experts, participating in inspiring and fun acctivities, and enjoying delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as to celebrate a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle that can make our world a better place.
Although vegan movement has grown in Brazil and around the world since the inception of Vegfest Brasil, there is still much to be done for the cause, and SVB continues to work relentlessly to raise public awareness of the benefits of veganism for humans, animals, and our planet.
