The Love Supreme Jazz Festival is held in the surroundings of Glynde Place, an Elizabethan manor house in the village of Glynde, East Susses, England. It is a 20 minute drive from Brighton and a 1.5 hour drive from central London. The festival usually takes place on the first weekend of July. According to the organizers, they strove to create a festival that would combine the traditions of classical European jazz festivals with the culture and atmosphere of British open-air music festivals. That’s how the first full weekend camping jazz festival in the United Kingdom was born.
The first Love Supreme Jazz Festival was held on July 5 and 6, 2013. The line-up included world class musicians such as Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum, Chic ft Nile Rogers, Hugh Masekela, Laura Mvula, Gregory Porter, Marcus Miller, Melody Gardot, Esperanza Spalding, Chaka Khan, Robert Glasper, Brandford Marsalis, Snarky Puppy, Earth, Jools Holland, Courtney Pine, Wind and Fire, and many others.
The festival has four stages. The Main Stage is reserved for headliners and more contemporary musicians with a funk and soul lineage. The Big Top hosts the best UK and international jazz artists. The Arena is for younger artists who push the limits of what jazz, funk and soul is today. Finally, the Bandstand is a stage for local musicians from Brighton and East Essex. It is hosted by the Verdict Jazz Club.
Alongside exciting concerts on four stages, the program of Love Supreme includes DJ and club nights, lectures and talks, panels, dance classes, film screenings, classic album playbacks, VIP experiences, kids events and activities, fairground, camping, and more. It is an immersive musical experience for those who appreciate both high-quality music and the atmosphere of a camping festival.
