Taste Festivals is a company known for running a series of food festivals around the world aimed at foodies, restaurant lovers, and chef groupies. Taste Festivals are held on all inhabited continents including Australia. It fact, Australia hosts three such festivals – in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Taste of Sydney is a four-day food and drink festival held every autumn in Sydney’s Centennial Park.

As of 2016, Taste Festivals take place in over 20 cities around the world. Taste of Sydney is the first Taste Festival of the year in Australia, followed by another spring show in Perth and an autumn festival in Melbourne. The programs of all festivals have a similar structure because they have been modeled after Taste of London. Nevertheless, each of them has a unique atmosphere determined by its host city.

Taste of Sydney is a celebration of the city’s unique dining scene. It presents Sydney’s finest restaurants which offer exquisite signature dishes for attendees to create their dream tasting menus. The festival also features award-winning chefs from all over Australia and abroad, premium food and drink producers, interactive attractions for visitors of all ages, and live entertainment in a picturesque open-air setting.

Taste of Sydney consists of six sessions running over four days. Each session is about 4 or 5 hours long. Like other Taste Festivals, Taste of Sydney has its own official currency called Crowns. They are used to buy food and drinks from restaurants, bars and exhibitors. Crowns can be purchased in advance or right on site.

What exactly does Taste of Sydney have to offer? First and foremost, it gives a unique opportunity to sample signature dishes of Sydney’s hottest restaurants at reasonable prices. Haute cuisine has never been so affordable! Another major attraction is the Taste Theater where celebrity chefs conduct live demonstrations, sharing their favorite recipes. Those who want to interact with their favorite chefs in a more intimate setting can participate in the Chefs’ Secrets masterclass.

Other events and activities at Taste of Sydney include presentations, wine and hard liquor tastings, food and wine pairings, how to sessions and masterclasses, a large food market, and more.

Like most Taste Festivals, Taste of Sydney is held outdoors, rain or shine. Should the weather turn for the worst, there are plenty of covered marquee areas at the show.
