Power Engineer's Day in Kazakhstan Date in the current year: December 15, 2024
Kazakhstan inherited this holiday from the Soviet Union. After its dissolution many traditions were kept, that is why this professional day was included into the list of official Kazakh holidays and observances.
Originally Power Engineer's Day was established in May 1966, but it was celebrated on December 22, that is adoption anniversary of the state plan for electrification of Russia in 1920. The date of celebration was moved to the third Sunday in December in 1988. After collapse of the Soviet Union the new government of independent Kazakhstan decided to keep a “new” date of the observance, that is the third Sunday in November. Many other post-Soviet countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, decided to reestablish and celebrate the same professional day on December 22, that is its original date.
