Social Workers’ Day in Kazakhstan Social Workers’ Day is an official professional holiday in Kazakhstan celebrated on the last Sunday in October. It was established in 2011.

Social work aims at improving the quality of life and subjective well-being of individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities. Social work is a very broad interdisciplinary profession which focuses on many areas, from mental health to social and community development. The profession of social worker plays an important role in any society, since by improving individual well-being social workers affect the well-being of society. Their contribution to the promotion of social justice is invaluable.

Kazakhstan’s Day of the Workers of the Social Protection System, commonly referred to as Social Workers’ Day, was established to recognize the contribution of social workers to the development of society. It is the professional holiday of all employees of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of Kazakhstan, its regional departments, and other organizations responsible for social protection of the citizens.
