International Human Solidarity Day Date in the current year: December 20, 2024

International Human Solidarity Day The UN General Assembly proclaimed International Human Solidarity Day in 2005 and designated December 20 to be the date of this observance. This international observances was established to remind people about the important role that solidarity plays in realization of all international agreements and programs.

On December 20, 2002 the UN General Assembly established the World Solidarity Fund, the trust fund of the United Nations Development Program. The main objective of the fund is to eradicate poverty and promote social and cultural development of the developing countries. Three years after the anniversary of the fund establishment was proclaimed to be International Human Solidarity Day.

According to the UN General Assembly resolution, solidarity is one of the fundamental values of all humankind and it should be the basis of all modern international relations. Only solidarity can help people overcome the global problems.

The UN General Assembly calls on member-states to organize appropriate events to celebrate Internationale Human Solidarity Day. These events should correspond to the annual theme chosen by the UN.
