World Dream Day Date in the current year: September 25, 2024
The ability to have dreams and goals is what makes humans so special. The problems is that we often face barriers when we try to make our dreams come true, which discourages a lot of people from pursuing their dreams. They keep dreaming because it is impossible for humans not to dream at all, but their dreams never become a reality.
This is why World Dream Day is so important. It was created to encourage individuals, families, educational establishments, businesses, and entire communities to focus on their dreams and work to make them come true. It empowers people all over the world to share their dreams and set them in motion for a better future for all of us.
The celebration of World Dream Day was initiated by Ozioma Egwuonwu, an internationally celebrated educator, speaker, and transformational strategist. She founded the holiday in 2012 while teaching a course about developing dreams and ideas at Columbia University. The main goals of World Dream Day are to acknowledge the role dreams play in our lives, inspire and heal humanity, and encourage others to achieve their goals.
World Dream Day was almost immediately recognized and supported by various international organization. For example, in 2013, it was an official partner of the United Nations My Word, a survey launched by the UN that let citizens vote on development proprieties. Since then, World Dream Day has established strategic partnerships with numerous NGOs and businesses.
How can you join the celebration of World Dream Day? You can attend an event near you, join one of the many virtual events, create an event of your own, make a dream or vision board, share your dreams with others in any form you wish, take the first step toward making your dreams come true, participate in the Dream Effect Challenge or DreamRunner Challenge, and spread the word about the holiday on social media with the hashtag #WorldDreamDay.
The Dream Effect Challenge and DreamRunner Challenge are about announcing your dreams to the world and taking the first steps to make them a reality. To take part in the Dream Effect Challenge, you need to make a video in which you declare your dream, explain the impact you want to have by making this dream a reality, and nominate three friends to accept the challenge. Then share the video on the social media platform of your choice with the hashtags #DreamEffectChallenge and #WorldDreamDay.
The DreamRunner Challenge is for those who are actively striving to make their dreams come true and pursuing a better future for themselves and humanity. To participate in the challenge, focus on a dream that can make a difference, write the dream down along with three steps you can take to make it happen, sign at the bottom, snap a picture of yourself with this Dream Declaration, and share it on social media.
