Prosecutors’ Day in Kyrgyzstan Prosecutors’ Day is an official professional holiday in the Kyrgyz Republic celebrated on November 22 every year. It was proclaimed by the government of Kyrgyzstan in 2000 in order to emphasize the significant contribution of public prosecutors to overseeing the precise and uniform execution of laws.

The first public prosecutor’s office in Kyrgyzstan was established on November 22, 1924. It was the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the government of independent Kyrgyzstan initiated a public prosecution reform.

The first Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic was adopted in 1993. It has since been revised twice, in 2006 and 2012. According to the current version of the law, the main task of the Public Prosecutor’s Office is supervision over the observance of the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens. The activity of the Prosecutor’s Office is regulated by the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and by the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Prosecutors’ Day is the professional holiday of all employees and veterans of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. On November 22, they accept congratulations from their superiors, friends and relatives.
