Day of Civil Servants and Government Officials in Hungary Day of Civil Servants and Government Officials (A köztisztviselők és kormánytisztviselők napja) is an official professional holiday celebrated in Hungary on July 1. It was established in 1997 as Day of Civil Servants.

On July 1, 1992 the Act on the Status of Civil Servants came into force in Hungary. Four years later, the Trade Union of Hungarian Civil Servants and Public Employees proposed to establish a professional holiday to be celebrated on July 1 every year.

The first Civil Servants Day in Hungary was celebrated on July 1, 1997. In 2001, it became an official professional holiday. On July 20, 2011 the National Assembly (the parliament of Hungary) declared July 1 as Day of Civil Servants and Government Officials. Since then, it has been a non-working day for all Hungarians employed in the public sector.

The training of civil servants in Hungary is carried out by the National University of Public Servants in Budapest. Its goal is to educate future public administration officials, military and law enforcement officers, as well as to improve the skills of current employees. The University has four faculties (International and European Studies, Political Sciences and Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Military Sciences and Officer Training) and three institutes (Research and Development on State and Governance, Disaster Management, Nationals Security).
