Army Day in North Macedonia Army Day in North Macedonia is celebrated on August 18 every year. The holiday commemorates the creation of the Mirče Acev battalion in 1943. The battalion laid the foundation of the People's Liberation Army of Macedonia that fought against the Axis forces during WWII.

Mirče Acev was an organizer of the Communist resistance in Vardar Macedonia during the Second World War. He formed the first resistance battalion on August 18, 1943. The Mirče Acev battalion became the first major unit of the Macedonian People's Liberation Army, which is considered to be the predecessor of the present-day Army of the Republic of Macedonia.

Macedonian army in its modern form was founded in 1992, following the country's independence from Yugoslavia. It is the armed forces of the Republic of North Macedonia. The army consists of two service branches, the Ground Force and Air Force.

Although Army Day is not a public holiday, it is always celebrated with an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Defense/General Staff premises in the city of Skopje. The celebration typically includes a military parade, an exhibition of the vehicles and weapons, promotions, and presentation of certificates, badges and plaques to the personnel.
