International Day of Awesomeness Date in the current year: March 10, 2024

International Day of Awesomeness was created by American web application developer Kevin Lawver and his coworkers. One of the interns said they should celebrate Kevin's awesomeness (it was sort of a running joke), and Kevin came up with the idea of Day of Awesomeness. It started as a national day, but eventually the holiday went global.

International Day of Awesomeness is celebrated on March 10 because it is Chuck Norris' birthday. Chuck Norris is considered the quintessence of awesomeness (at least this is what “Chuck Norris Facts” say), so the date seems quite appropriate.

The holiday's original tag line was “Because everyone needs an excuse to be awesome”, but then Kevin's son Max came up with the new one, “No one's perfect, but everyone can be awesome”. People are awesome every day without even realizing it, and many of them need to be encouraged to perform feats of awesomeness.

On March 10, be sure to tell all your friends how awesome they are and be awesome yourself. Do not take the holiday too seriously and have a lot of fun, that's what it's all about.
