Father's Day in Australia has got the same origin, as American celebration. In fact, American Father's Day became the template for the same holidays around the world.

Father's Day was introduced by Sonora Smart Dodd, who wanted to honor her father, the veteran of Civil War. He was a single parent who rose his six children. The original date of the holiday was the day when Sonora's father died, but later every country adopted other dates to celebrate the holiday.

In Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea Father's Day celebration has almost the same traditions as in the other countries. Children congratulate their fathers, present hand-made gifts. And the fathers try to spend as much time as possible with their children. Different events are held across the country to celebrate and honor the fatherhood.
