International Childhood Cancer Day Date in the current year: February 15, 2024

International Childhood Cancer Day International Childhood Cancer Day is observed annually on February 15. This observance was established in 2003 and about 40 countries participate the events organized under the auspices of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP).

International Childhood Cancer Day was introduced under the initiative of International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO). It aims raising awareness on the challenges faced by children and adolescents with cancer and those who take care of them.

Current children mortality rate from cancer oncologic diseases is very high. About 80% of children live in the underdeveloped countries, where proper treatment is not accessible. Approximately 70% of cancers are curable if they are timely diagnosed and treated with appropriate protocols, but many children with cancer are denied the right to hope for a cure. Raising public awareness of children with cancer is one of the main goals of the International Childhood Cancer Day.
