Water Industry Workers Day in Kyrgyzstan Water Industry Workers Day is a professional holiday that is annually celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on the third Sunday in June. The holiday was established on June 5, 1995.

The celebration of Water Industry Workers Day is connected to a Soviet holiday named Ameliorators Day. After the collapse of the Soviet Union this holiday was kept under the same name in Russia, but in Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan it was renamed and moved to another date.

Groups of organizations and enterprises of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Kyrgyz Republic initiated the celebration of this holiday. The holiday was established because water supply is one of the important factors of the economic development of the country.

More than 3,000 rivers belonging to seven major basins flow on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Among them are the Syr Darya (the longest river in Central Asia) and the Amu Darya rivers.
