Water Industry Worker's Day in Kyrgyzstan Water Industry Worker's Day is a professional holiday, that is annually celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on the third Sunday in June. The holiday was established on June 5, 1995.

Celebration of Water Industry Worker's Day is connected to the Soviet holiday of Ameliorator's Day. After collapse of the Soviet Union this holiday is kept under the same name in Russia, but in Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan it was renamed and moved to another date.

Groups of organizations and enterprises of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Kyrgyz Republic initiated celebration of this holiday. The holiday was established because water supply is one of the important factors of economic development of the country.

More than 3,000 rivers belonging to seven major basins flow on the territory of the Kyrgyzstan. Among them are the Syr Darya (the longest river in Central Asia) and the Amu Darya rivers. Lake Issyk Kul, the 25th largest lake in the world by area and the 7th by depth, is one of the most important water bodies in Kyrgyzstan. This lake is often called the Pearl of Kyrgyzstan.
