World Kissing Day Date in the current year: July 6, 2024

World Kissing Day July 6 is World Kissing Day (also known as World Kiss Day and International Kissing Day). This holiday was born in Great Britain, where it was unofficially celebrated since the 19th century.

Kiss is one of the ways of showing one's emotions. It can show a very wide range of sentiments, but mostly it's used to show love and respect. Many cultures around the world have different rituals and rites, that involve kisses, but not all of them have a sexual connotation. There is even a science that studies kissing.

Number of cities around the world organize different activities and competitions on World Kissing Day. The participants of these kisses-connected activities try to set various records.

A world record for the longest kiss was set on St. Valentine's Day, not on World Kiss Day. The longest kiss lasted for 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds. The record was set by Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat from Thailand on February 14, 2013.

World Kissing Day is not so commercialized as St. Valentine's Day. However, this holiday reminds us about the simple pleasures of life.
