Civil Aviation Day in Azerbaijan Civil Aviation Day is annually observed in Azerbaijan on June 2. This professional holiday of the workers of civil aviation was established by Presidential Decree of Ilham Aliyev on May 18, 2006.

The choice of the date was not made randomly. On June 2, 1938 the first aviation group of Azerbaijan was created. This event marked the beginning of establishment of the civil aviation in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Hava Yollari is a state-owned enterprise, the flag carrier of Azerbaijan and the largest airline of the country. The state controls airports (Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, international airports in the cities of Ganja, Nakhchivan, Zagatala, Lankaran and airports in Yevlakh and Zabrat), airlines (Azerbaijan Hava Yollari), AzalGelikopter, AzalAgro and state cargo airlines), enterprises (AZANS, AzalOil) and international business management, supervising ticket sales and reservation, and providing service in the field of tourism.
