Civil Aviation Day in Moldova Date in the current year: September 19, 2024

On September 19, 1944, the first civil aircraft arrived in the city of Chișinău, and the Moldovan Independence Squadron was created. That same year, Moldova's first civil airport was established in Chișinău. In 1995, it was granted the status of an international airport. Chișinău International Airport is the main international airport of Moldova and the headquarters for the country's national airline.

The national airline of Moldova is Air Moldova. It was founded in 1993 on the basis of the local unit of Aeroflot (former Soviet national airline). A year later, Moldavia's first private airline was created. Moldavia Airlines is also headquartered in Chișinău.
