Banker Day in Moldova Date in the current year: June 4, 2024

The National Bank of Moldova was founded on June 4, 1991. The banking legislation was adopted in the same year. These two events were the basis for creation of the national banking system, starting to shape in 1993, of the independent Republic of Moldova.

The National Bank of Moldova ensures sand maintains price stability, develops and maintains financial system based on market principles and promotes general economic policy of Moldova. The National Bank is the first level of the Moldovian banking system. About 15 commercial banks form the second level. More than 50% of the assets are owned by four largest banks, previously state-owned before the wave of privatization in 1994-1995.

Banker Day is a professional holiday for all employees of banks. The bankers receive congratulations from authorities, colleagues and clients. The most deserving bankers receive prizes and awards.
